Sandpape application and its history

Sandpaper is a part of coated abrasives series of products. Sandpaper is used to grinding or polishing the surfaces of work pieces in order to make the workpieces smoother or removes the surface rougher, such as wood finishing, painting and a preparation to gluing.  
      According to the existing recorded show that sandpaper was invented in 13th century when makers adopted crushed shells, seed and sand with natural gum to make sandpapers. Interestingly, some documents show that shark skin was also used as a kind of sanding application form in the 13th century.   Also, the rough horsetail to be a kind of traditional polishing materials is used in Japan and Southeast Asia region.
           In the 17th century, glass coated on the paper to be the originally form of sandpaper when maker discovered that glass has the grinding function of sharp-edged particles for work pieces.  In 1833, this type of glass paper was made from a company in the UK on which they adopted this new glue techniques and making process. After one year(1834), an American who names Isaac Fischer updated a new making techniques for sandpaper, so that this new technique driven the development of sandpaper application in the abrasives industry.
       In the early of 20 century, researchers invented waterproof sandpaper that added sandpaper application of range. Waterproof sandpaper overcomes the grit clog of issues, become a main surface finishing of method for automotive paint refinishing.  
Present, there are many different sandpaper series of products used to at the different surface finishing field today. The sandpaper application of technique is the more and more advanced, such as film polishing pad, etc .
