There are two school holidays in China, summer holiday and winter holiday. For Xiao, He likes the summer holiday.  For one reason is that it is a long holiday from the first day of July to the end of August in each year for students.For another reason is that Xiao can drink “cold water” (a kind of the sweet taste of soft drink), when he went to the working place of his dad at sometime, during the summer holiday. This drinking was provided by the factory in order to avoid the heat stroke symptoms of staffs at the summer time. This is because it is the high temperature of working environment within the manufacturing building of sandpaper.

 

Xiao‘s father is a worker in abrasives factory. And the Dad's position is to control cutting machinewhen a sandpaper roll need to be cut to be the square size (the size is 230mmX280mm, likes A4 size).  Xiao does not like to enter into this building as the cutting machine is very noisy, but Xiao cannot resist the temptation from the taste of Cold water. This is because the cold water drinks were at the anterroom in the building.  Xiao entered into this building and he has to across an original cloth processing of place, he looked  these big original cloth of rolls on the shelf, and Xiao confused why these cloths roll were a kind of the essential materials to manufacturing sanding sheets. Xiao like to look those grits when he past the abrasive warehouse, looking those grains that seem to be stars on the sky, especially under the lighting these grits so bright lights. Since then, Xiao interested what is sanding sheets and sandpaper, when the calendar was 1981.

As a result, Xiao has another childhood name: “summer sandpaper boy “, although, Xiao does not like this name.

In the day of summer, a child was eating a Popsicle under a tree where is near his home, which waiting his father finish working to back from factory to home. The child names Laohu. In fact, it is not the formal name for this child and his name is Xiao . However, people like calling a childhood name for him if people know him, because this is a very traditional culture for his hometown when the elder people call a childhood name for kids or children.

Xiao lives in a not large city that it is called Zhengzhou where was located in the middle region of China. Zhengzhou is a long history of small city in China, which is a part of the cradle of Chinese civilization. Xiao was born in this city. Xiao’s Mum and Dad working at an abrasives factory in Zhengzhou and the factory was called “China second grinding wheel factory”.  The China second grinding wheel factory was a comprehensiveness abrasives manufactory in China (1985-1993). After, Xiao was known this abrasives factory is a big of the comprehensiveness abrasives and the related grinding materials factory in Asia actually, when Xiao has become an employee at this factory. 

For Xiao, he is the youngest child in the family of him, Xiao has a big brother who older than Xiao 5years. Xiao‘s father and Mum were working at the same factory and Xiao’ Dad is a worker to produce sandpaper and his mum is a QC in this abrasives factory. Although, Xiao‘s family life was poor and was very hardships, however, this family still was full of happiness.

Abrasive is  a kind of cutting , grinding or polishing materials, which is used in the manufacture of coated abrasives, bonded abrasives. The abrasive has the characteristic of hardness,toughness,inerness,resistance to heat, which has been applied in cutting, grinding or polishing  of different field. This is because, the ability of the grain or particle to penetrate the item being abraded depend to a large extent upon the hardness and shape of the abrasives. In addition , the grain to resist breakdown and dulling under the stree of the grinding operation reflects its toughness. The ideal abrasives grain offers maximum resistance to point wear, yet fractures before serious dulling occurs, thereby satisfying both stock removal and finishing requirements.

Sandpaper is a part of coated abrasives series of products. Sandpaper is used to grinding or polishing the surfaces of work pieces in order to make the workpieces smoother or removes the surface rougher, such as wood finishing, painting and a preparation to gluing.  

      According to the existing recorded show that sandpaper was invented in 13th century when makers adopted crushed shells, seed and sand with natural gum to make sandpapers. Interestingly, some documents show that shark skin was also used as a kind of sanding application form in the 13th century.   Also, the rough horsetail to be a kind of traditional polishing materials is used in Japan and Southeast Asia region.

What coated abrasives are?

Coated Abrasive, is normally given to those abrasives products in which the abrasive particles or grains are applied to the surface of a flexible backing material by a bond or adhesive.
